Early screening tests are often encouraged by doctors and advocacy organizations. Unfortunately, these tests are not always accurate and they may detect a condition for which there is no cure.
Doctors need to tailor screening to individual patient health profiles. No test is 100% accurate and false positive results can create stress and anxiety for patients who are in fact completely healthy. Two screening tests are used as examples in this article.
